It’s Back to Work for BEST Committee

Unable to meet last year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the BEST (Building on Excellence and Success Together) Strategic Planning Committee is resuming work to guide the district’s Strategic Plan.  BEST Committee members will meet on Thursday, October 21 at 6 p.m. in the Bahner-Ray Media Center with a new facilitator, former Cuyahoga Heights’ Schools administrator Lora Garrett.  “The meeting will welcome new members and fill everybody in on what transpired during the past year,” noted Garrett. It also will provide an opportunity for everyone to get reacquainted with the various aspects of the plan and discuss ways to move forward.

Garrett is confident that the committee’s makeup will ensure its continued success in guiding the district forward. “This is a district that is unique in the fact that it does a really good job of engaging all stakeholders in educating their students. It’s a good program that was instituted years ago to allow everyone to be vested in the success of our students. I’m excited to be a part of its continuation.”

The plan focuses on six areas or pillars:

  • Academics
  • Safety, Security and Facilities
  • Communication and Community Outreach
  • Advancement of Student Opportunities
  • Enrollment
  • Finances.

The BEST Committee is composed of parents, community residents, students, school staff and administrators, and public officials.  Anyone interested in joining the BEST committee is encouraged to contact Tracy Deal, administrative assistant to the superintendent, at 216-429-5702 or email [email protected].
