CHHS Senior to Play Football for John Carroll University

Cuyahoga Heights High School Senior Owen Schuckert has signed a letter of intent to play football for John Carroll University.

The 6-ft.1-in.,175-lb. cornerback, split end, and kicker has played Heights football for the past three three years. During that time, he earned two Varsity football letters and was named Second Team Chagrin Valley Conference for both his junior and senior years. He also earned a Varsity letter for running track.

“Owen was one of our most valuable players over the last two seasons,”said Head Football Coach Al Martin. “He handled our place kicking and kickoff duties but also made contributions as a cornerback and split end. Owen gave our football team an advantage on special teams in almost every game we played. He was very consistent and kicked well under pressure.”

Schuckert made 57 of his 62 extra points and 8 of his 12 field goals. He was also very good on sidekicks and directional kicks, said Martin. “Owen has worked very hard on his own time to improve both his kicking fundamentals and his strength and has earned the opportunity to kick at the college level,” added Martin.

Schuckert is enrolled in the Sports Medicine Exercise Science Program at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. He is a member of the CHHS Student Council and works part-time at a local pizza shop and in his father’s contracting business.  In college, he hopes to major in biology or chemistry.  His long-term plans are to attend medical school and become a surgeon.

Schuckert is the son of Lyndie and Rocky Schuckert of Brooklyn Heights.
