Cuyahoga Heights Schools honored local veterans and veteran family members for their commitment to our nation’s freedom on Veterans’ Day, November 11.
At Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School, the annual Veterans Day Program opened with a Flag Ceremony conducted by Cub Scout Pack #28. Kindergarteners said the Pledge of Allegiance and the fourth graders sang the high school’s Alma Mater. Fifth graders sang the “Star Spangled Banner” and paid tribute to the various branches of the military. Second graders sang “America the Beautiful” and Pre-K students presented a craft to their honored guests. The assembly concluded with the whole school singing “God Bless America”. A special thank you to the district’s PTO for organizing refreshments and a wonderful reception after the program in the cafeteria.
At the middle and high schools, students from the Class of 2029 assembled a program to recognize veterans and presented a history of Veterans Day and its significance. A special video tribute was played during both middle and high school morning convocations to recognize veterans with connections to Cuyahoga Heights Schools. “It was an honor to recognize the incredible service of our veterans within our school community and to say, ‘Thank You’ to all who have served,” said principal Scott DeTray.
